Quick picks
Roof or hitch: where each kind of gear goes on a RAV4
So the first thing to figure out is where each piece of gear rides. Basically, a hitch is the square tube under the rear bumper that a bike rack slides into, and the opening of that tube is called the receiver. And the roof needs crossbars, which are the two bars that run side to side across the roof rails.
| Gear | Best spot on a RAV4 | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One or two regular bikes | A platform rack on the hitch, or the roof if you have no hitch | You don't have to lift the bikes up to a roof that's 66.3 to 69.1 inches tall before the crossbars. And a hitch carrier costs almost nothing in mpg, which I cover in my RAV4 road trips guide. |
| E-bikes (50 to 80 lb each) | The hitch only | Toyota's own roof bike carrier is rated for bikes up to 44 lb. And an e-bike is too heavy to lift onto a RAV4 roof safely. |
| Skis and snowboards | A ski carrier on the roof crossbars | Skis are light, and the roof keeps the hitch free for bikes. The one hitch ski carrier on this page needs a swing-away base too. |
| A cargo box | The roof or the hitch, not both loaded at once | The full weight math is in my road trips guide. |
| The dog | Inside, in the cargo area | A tilting bike rack has to tilt down every time the dog gets in or out. I cover that in the bikes plus a dog section below. |
And here's how tall each RAV4 is from Toyota's manuals, before you add crossbars or anything on top:
- 2023 to 2025 RAV4 Hybrid: 67.0 inches.
- 2026 RAV4 Hybrid: 66.7 inches without the raised roof rails, and 69.1 inches with the raised roof rails the Woodland gets.
- 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid: 66.9 inches without the raised roof rails, 67.3 inches with them, and 66.3 inches for the GR SPORT.
Now etrailer measured a Yakima FatCat EVO ski carrier adding about 4.5 inches above the factory crossbars on a 2022 RAV4, and a Kuat Grip adding about 4.75 inches. So with skis on the roof, the top of a RAV4 is close to 6 feet. And a bike on the roof adds roughly another 3.5 feet. So I'd measure your garage door opening before you drive in with anything on the roof.
1.25-inch vs 2-inch hitch on a RAV4: get the 2-inch hitch
So 1.25-inch and 2-inch are the size of the receiver opening. A 1.25-inch hitch takes a smaller rack, and a 2-inch hitch takes the bigger racks. And on a RAV4, the 2-inch hitch is the better buy on every count.
| Years | Hitch | Receiver | Hitch rating | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 to 2025 RAV4, 2021 to 2024 Prime | Curt 12200 Class 2 | 1.25 inch | 3,500 lb towing, 350 lb tongue weight | $276.95 list (checked Oct 15, 2026) |
| 2019 to 2025 RAV4, 2021 to 2024 Prime | Curt 13615 Class 3 | 2 inch | 4,500 lb towing, 675 lb tongue weight | $279.95 list (checked Oct 15, 2026) |
- The price is the same. On a 2019 to 2025 RAV4, Curt's 1.25-inch hitch is only $3 cheaper than Curt's 2-inch hitch. So there's no real saving with the 1.25-inch hitch.
- The 2026 RAV4 only has 2-inch hitches. Curt's 1.25-inch hitch lists 2019 to 2025 only. And the 2026 hitches from Toyota, Curt and Torklift are all 2-inch. The 2026 Woodland comes with a 2-inch hitch from the factory.
- The best e-bike racks are 2-inch only, or rated higher in 2-inch. I list the exact rack details just below.
Basically, tongue weight is how hard something pushes straight down on the hitch. And the hitch's own tongue weight rating doesn't matter much on a RAV4, because the RAV4 is rated lower than either hitch. Curt says it right on the 12200 page: "Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities." I explain that in the next section.
So here's what the rack makers say about 2-inch versus 1.25-inch racks:
- Kuat NV 2.0 ($989, checked Oct 15, 2026) holds 60 lb per bike. Kuat says only the 2-inch NV 2.0 takes add-ons, which are the extra trays for a third or fourth bike.
- Kuat Piston Pro X ($1,589, checked Oct 15, 2026) holds 67 lb per bike in the 2-inch version and 60 lb in the 1.25-inch version. Add-ons fit the 2-inch version only.
- Yakima StageTwo ($949, checked Oct 15, 2026) is approved to 70 lb per bike in the 2-inch version, and the StageTwo +2 add-on fits the 2-inch version only.
- 1Up USA Heavy Duty comes in 2-inch and 2.5-inch only, and holds up to 65 lb per bike. The Double is about $770 in 2-inch (checked Oct 15, 2026).
- Kuat Pivot v2 ($498, sold out on kuat.com, checked Oct 15, 2026), a swing-away base, only comes in 2-inch and needs a Class III hitch.
And if you already have a 1.25-inch hitch, the Thule T2 Pro XTR 1.25-inch (9035XTR) holds 60 lb per bike, the same as the 2-inch version. The 1.25-inch T2 Pro XTR is $899.95 (checked Oct 15, 2026). And the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 also comes in 1.25-inch or 2-inch, holds 40 lb per bike, and costs $759 (checked Oct 15, 2026).
If you still need a hitch, my RAV4 towing guide lists Toyota's, Curt's and Torklift's 2-inch hitches by year with prices. And I walk through putting a hitch on in my RAV4 trailer hitch install guide.
Are hitch adapters safe on a RAV4?
So there are two kinds of adapter, and only one of them is a problem.
- A small rack in a big receiver is common. Basically, a sleeve lets a rack made for a 1.25-inch hitch slide into a 2-inch receiver. The sleeve doesn't push the rack farther out, but the rack's own 1.25-inch rating still applies. One 2021 RAV4 Prime XSE owner did exactly this with a rack bought at Costco, the SportRack Crest 2 Locking, in Toyota's factory hitch. SportRack lists the Crest 2 Locking at $299.95, out of stock (checked Oct 15, 2026).
- A 2-inch rack on a 1.25-inch hitch is the one to avoid. An adapter for that works like an extension and adds leverage. An etrailer expert wrote that "using an adapter can reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by as much as 50%." And that etrailer expert recommended a rack made for the 1.25-inch receiver instead.
And Kuat says, "You should not attach a vertical or hanging-style bicycle rack to a hitch extender or swing arm." Basically, a hanging rack is the kind where the bikes hang by their frames from two arms, instead of sitting on trays.
How much weight a RAV4 hitch can carry, and the e-bike math
So this is where a lot of owners get confused. Toyota doesn't publish a weight limit for a bike rack on the hitch, on any 2019 to 2026 RAV4. Toyota's manual only says a trailer's tongue weight should be 9 to 11 percent of the trailer's weight.
Basically, the common rule for a hitch carrier is 10 percent of the RAV4's towing rating. That's a rule hitch shops and etrailer use. It isn't a Toyota number. Here's what the 10 percent rule works out to:
| RAV4 | Towing rating | Hitch carrier limit (10 percent rule) |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 to 2025 gas RAV4, every trim except the Adventure and TRD Off-Road | 1,500 lb | About 150 lb |
| 2019 to 2025 RAV4 Hybrid, and the 2026 RAV4 Hybrids rated 1,750 lb | 1,750 lb | About 175 lb |
| 2021 to 2025 RAV4 Prime | 2,500 lb | About 250 lb |
| 2019 to 2024 gas Adventure, 2020 to 2024 gas TRD Off-Road, and the 2026 Hybrids and Plug-in Hybrids rated 3,500 lb | 3,500 lb | About 350 lb |
And keep in mind the rack counts. So the limit covers the rack plus the bikes, not just the bikes. My towing guide has the towing rating for every trim, and my road trips guide has the full table.
Now here's the math with real rack weights from the makers. The bike weights are just example numbers, so plug in your own bikes.
| RAV4 | Limit (10 percent rule) | Rack plus bikes | Total | Under the limit? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 to 2025 gas XLE | About 150 lb | Thule T2 Pro XTR (52 lb) plus two 30 lb trail bikes | 112 lb | Yes |
| 2019 to 2025 gas XLE | About 150 lb | Thule T2 Pro XTR (52 lb) plus two 60 lb e-bikes | 172 lb | No |
| 2019 to 2025 gas XLE | About 150 lb | Thule Epos (38.1 lb) plus two 55 lb e-bikes | 148 lb | Just barely |
| 2019 to 2025 RAV4 Hybrid | About 175 lb | Kuat Piston Pro X (about 60 lb) plus two 60 lb e-bikes | 180 lb | No |
| 2019 to 2025 RAV4 Hybrid | About 175 lb | Thule Epos (38.1 lb) plus two 65 lb e-bikes | 168 lb | Yes |
| 2021 to 2025 RAV4 Prime | About 250 lb | Yakima StageTwo (63 lb) plus two 70 lb e-bikes | 203 lb | Yes |
So for two e-bikes on a gas RAV4 or a RAV4 Hybrid, the weight of the rack itself decides whether you stay under the limit. The Thule Epos weighs 38.1 lb, holds 75 lb per bike and 140 lb total, and costs $1,299.95 (checked Oct 15, 2026). And one owner with a 2019 gas RAV4 XLE asked etrailer about three e-bikes. The etrailer expert said to carry two on the rack and put the third "inside the RAV4 with the front wheel removed."
And everything on the hitch also counts toward the RAV4's total load limit. That's 900 lb on a gas RAV4 or RAV4 Hybrid, and 970 lb on a RAV4 Prime or 2026 Plug-in Hybrid. That limit covers people, the dog, luggage, the roof and the hitch together. I do that math in my road trips guide.
The 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid model code that shouldn't carry a hitch rack
So something to note is that Toyota's 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid manual has a warning for one model code, AXAP64L-ANXZBA. For that model code only, the manual says "Toyota does not recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle. Toyota also does not recommend the installation of a tow hitch or the use of a tow hitch carrier for a wheelchair, scooter, bicycle, etc."
The manual gives the model code without naming the trim. But the GR SPORT is the 2026 Plug-in Hybrid with no towing rating, so that model code is very likely the GR SPORT. Every other 2026 Plug-in Hybrid gets the normal towing section. So if you have a 2026 GR SPORT, I'd skip the hitch bike rack and ask your dealer to confirm your RAV4's model code.
Hitch bike racks that let the RAV4 liftgate open with bikes on
So a loaded bike rack sits right behind the liftgate. Basically, the liftgate is the RAV4's rear hatch, the big door at the back. And unless the rack tilts down and away with the bikes still on it, you have to take the bikes off before you can open the liftgate.
Basically, a platform rack is the kind where the bikes sit on trays by their wheels. The Thule T2 Pro XTR and the Kuat NV 2.0 were both shown on video tilting down with bikes loaded and clearing a RAV4's open liftgate.
| Rack | RAV4 it was shown on | What was measured | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thule T2 Pro XTR, 2-inch (9034XTR) or 1.25-inch (9035XTR) | 2025 RAV4 | Tilted with a bike on, the liftgate "clears the handlebars and the pedals by several inches." Sticks out about 36.5 inches from the bumper loaded, 15 inches folded. The rack weighs about 52 lb and holds 60 lb per bike. | $899.95 (checked Oct 15, 2026) |
| Kuat NV 2.0 | 2021 RAV4 Prime | Tilted with a bike on, then the liftgate opened. Sticks out about 37 inches loaded, 14.5 inches folded, with 19.5 inches of ground clearance. | $989 (checked Oct 15, 2026). The Kuat NV Base 2.0 is $898. |
| Thule Epos | Not shown on a RAV4 | Thule says the Epos tilts with bikes on using a foot pedal, and that without bikes, the trunk opens without tilting. That's Thule's claim. | $1,299.95 (checked Oct 15, 2026) |
And here's what RAV4 owners report on the RAV4World forum. These reports come from search summaries of the RAV4World threads, so treat them as owner reports.
- One owner said a Kuat Sherpa tilts down to clear the liftgate.
- One owner said a 1Up rack doesn't block the liftgate, and that you can tilt the 1Up with a bike on.
- One 2024 owner said tilting racks are a pain with bikes loaded, and that a swing-out rack makes it easy.
Now hanging racks can tilt too. The Kuat Beta ($349, checked Oct 15, 2026) comes in 1.25-inch or 2-inch, and Kuat says the Beta "tilts down for easy access to the vehicle's rear hatch." But a hanging rack holds the bike frames close to the bumper, so I'd keep a hanging rack for regular bikes, not e-bikes.
Swing-away bases: full liftgate access, but heavier
So a swing-away base sits between the hitch and the rack, and swings the whole rack out to the side like a gate. That way the liftgate opens all the way with the bikes on. The Kuat Pivot v2 is $498, 2-inch only, needs a Class III hitch, and holds 250 lb, but kuat.com shows the Pivot v2 sold out. The Yakima EXO SwingBase is $699 (both checked Oct 15, 2026).
But keep in mind the swing-away's own weight comes out of the same 150 to 350 lb hitch limit. Kuat doesn't list the Pivot v2's weight. So on a gas RAV4 or a RAV4 Hybrid, a swing-away plus two e-bikes adds up fast.
What a hitch rack blocks on a RAV4
So a hitch rack covers more than just the liftgate. In etrailer's T2 Pro XTR video on a 2025 RAV4, the rack blocked the rear window view, the tail lights, the license plate and the backup camera. And the RAV4 gets about 3 feet longer, so keep that in mind when you park. Toyota's manual also warns that a rear carrier can confuse the Blind Spot Monitor and the parking sensors.
And if your rack hides the plate or the lights, there are kits for that. The Kuat NV 2.0 license plate mount is $79, and the Yakima SafetyMate lighting and plate kit is $299 but sold out on yakima.com (both checked Oct 15, 2026).
Don't hang a strap-on trunk rack on the RAV4 liftgate
So a trunk rack is the kind that straps onto the liftgate itself. Toyota's RAV4 manuals from 2019 to 2026 warn against this. Here's Toyota's wording: "If a bicycle carrier or similar heavy object is attached to the back door, it may suddenly shut again after being opened, causing someone's hands, head or neck to be caught and injured." Toyota calls the liftgate the "back door." So on a RAV4, I'd use the hitch or the roof instead. I go through that warning in my power liftgate guide.
The kick sensor and a hitch
So the kick sensor lets you open the power liftgate by swinging your foot under the rear bumper. And Toyota's manuals are clear about the kick sensor and a hitch. Toyota's manuals for the 2023 to 2025 RAV4 Hybrid, the 2021 RAV4 Prime, the 2026 RAV4 Hybrid and the 2026 Plug-in Hybrid all say the same thing. Here's the line: "When the towing hitch is installed, Hands Free Power Back Door does not work." Toyota's name for the kick sensor is Hands Free Power Back Door. And the 2019 gas RAV4 manual says the "kick sensor does not work."
And Toyota's own 2019 to 2025 hitch isn't sold for the Limited with the foot-activated power liftgate. That hitch is the Toyota Tow Hitch Receiver PK960-42R10, $446 at Toyota OEM Parts Online (MSRP $575, checked Oct 15, 2026).
Now Torklift says its EcoHitch X7396 ($375.64, checked Oct 15, 2026) is "the only hitch that does not block the factory kick sensor." And Torklift says the kick sensor keeps working with its 2026 EcoHitch X7518S. Those are Torklift's claims, and Toyota's manuals say the opposite. Owners report mixed results, and I go through what owners tried in my power liftgate guide.
Ski and snowboard racks on the RAV4 roof
So skis go on the roof, on crossbars with a ski carrier clamped on top. Any clamp-on ski carrier made for aero or oval crossbars fits Toyota's factory crossbars. And etrailer fitted both a Yakima FatCat EVO and a Kuat Grip to the factory crossbars on a 2022 RAV4.
| Ski carrier | Holds | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Kuat Switch | "4 Skis" or "6 Skis" versions | $249 (4 skis, sold out on kuat.com) or $298 (6 skis), checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| Yakima FreshTrack 4 | The smaller FreshTrack | $249, checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| Thule SnowPack M | Up to 4 pairs of skis | $369.95, checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| Yakima FatCat EVO 6 | The 6-ski FatCat EVO | $399, checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| Kuat Grip (slides out toward you for loading) | "4 Skis" or "6 Skis" versions | $479 (4 skis) or $549 (6 skis), checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| Yakima EXO SnowBank (on the hitch, not the roof) | Skis on the hitch | $379, plus the EXO SwingBase at $699, checked Oct 15, 2026 |
And the Kuat Grip is handy on a tall car like the RAV4, because the tray slides out so you don't have to reach as far.
Will the liftgate hit your skis?
So this is the RAV4-specific part. With the liftgate open, etrailer measured about two feet from the rear of the FatCat EVO to the open liftgate on a 2022 RAV4. And etrailer said longer skis or boards "could potentially make contact there." With the Kuat Grip on the same RAV4, etrailer had "about a foot of space" with short skis.
- Load the skis so the ends don't hang past the rear crossbar. Slide the skis forward in the carrier, so the liftgate has room to swing up.
- Open the liftgate slowly the first time. Watch how close the top of the liftgate comes to the ski tips.
- On a power liftgate, set a lower opening height. That way the liftgate stops before it reaches the skis. I show how in my power liftgate guide.
And keep in mind Toyota's factory crossbars already sit over the front moonroof. So a loaded ski carrier blocks part of the view through the moonroof.
Now if you have an Adventure or TRD Off-Road, the crossbars sit on raised rails and have a different shape. One owner with a 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road on the factory raised rails said a ski carrier's rear mount "sat on a raised section of the crossbar." So I'd check the ski carrier's clamp against your crossbar shape before you buy.
And for weight, the etrailer videos say both the ski carrier's rating and the crossbars' rating matter. But Toyota doesn't publish a rating for its crossbars. What counts on a RAV4 is the 176.4 lb roof limit, and the crossbars and the carrier count toward that. Skis are light, so the roof limit mostly matters if the skis share the roof with a cargo box or bikes. I explain the roof limit in my roof racks guide.
Which crossbars fit your RAV4's roof rails
So I cover Toyota's crossbars and how to put them on in my roof racks guide. But which crossbars fit depends on your RAV4's roof rails, and there are three kinds.
| RAV4 | Roof rails | Crossbars that fit |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 to 2025 gas LE | No roof rails | A Thule or Yakima kit that clamps to the door frames or bolts to fixed points. etrailer's Q&A on crossbar kits for a RAV4 without roof rails covers which kits fit. |
| 2019 to 2021 gas LE, every 2019 to 2025 Hybrid LE, and the 2019 to 2025 XLE, XLE Premium, Hybrid XLE, Hybrid SE, XSE, Limited, and Prime SE and XSE | Low-profile black roof rails | Toyota Roof Rack Cross Bars PT278-42192, $174 at Toyota Parts Deal (MSRP $200), checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| 2019 to 2024 gas Adventure and 2020 to 2024 gas TRD Off-Road | Raised black roof rails, no crossbars from the factory | Toyota Roof Rack Cross Bars, Adventure Model, PT278-42191, $174 at Toyota Parts Deal (MSRP $215), checked Oct 15, 2026. Listed for the 2019 to 2024 RAV4, and "Not available on RAV4 Hybrid Models." The listing doesn't say whether these crossbars fit the TRD Off-Road, so I'd confirm with your VIN. |
| 2023 to 2025 RAV4 Hybrid Woodland | Raised black roof rails with crossbars | Comes with crossbars from the factory |
| 2026 RAV4 LE, XLE Premium and Limited | Low-profile roof rails | Toyota RAV4 Low Profile Cross Bars PT278-42250, $232 at Toyota Parts Deal (MSRP $300), checked Oct 15, 2026 |
| 2026 RAV4 Woodland | Raised black roof rails with crossbars | Comes with crossbars from the factory |
Something to note is that Toyota's 2026 trim lists don't mention roof rails for the 2026 SE, XSE or GR SPORT. So whether those 2026 trims have roof rails isn't confirmed. I'd look at the roof of the actual car at the dealer.
Bikes on the RAV4 roof
So if you don't have a hitch, the roof works for regular bikes. Toyota's own roof bike carrier is the Thule ProRide XT Bike Attachment PTN0E-00193, $324.75 at Toyota Parts Deal (MSRP $349.95, checked Oct 15, 2026). The Toyota Parts Deal listing fits the 2024 and 2025 RAV4, holds bikes up to 44 lb, and needs Toyota's crossbars.
And the Yakima HighRoad ($375, checked Oct 15, 2026) holds the bike by its front wheel, so you don't take the front wheel off. Yakima says the HighRoad's "low-profile design minimizes hatch interference."
Now two ProRide XT carriers, two 30 lb bikes and Toyota's crossbars come in well under the 176.4 lb roof limit. So weight isn't the problem with roof bikes. The real problem is lifting a bike up to a roof that's close to 6 feet tall once the crossbars and carrier are on. And the other is remembering the bikes are up there when you pull into a garage. And e-bikes are out on the roof, since the ProRide XT tops out at 44 lb.
Bikes, skis and the dog on one RAV4
So here's a setup that works on paper for a family with a 1,750 lb RAV4 Hybrid. Put the skis or a cargo box on the roof, and keep the roof load under 176.4 lb including the crossbars. Put two regular bikes on a tilting platform rack, and keep the rack plus bikes under about 175 lb. And the dog rides inside in the cargo area.
Keep in mind a tilting rack has to tilt down every time the dog gets in or out of the back. A swing-away base like the Kuat Pivot v2 or Yakima EXO SwingBase makes that easier, but it adds weight and cost. And with two e-bikes on a RAV4 Hybrid, I'd use a light rack like the Thule Epos and skip the roof box. Otherwise the 900 lb total load limit gets tight.
I go through the full load math with people, the dog and luggage in my road trips guide.
Videos: bike racks and ski carriers on a RAV4
etrailer fits the Thule T2 Pro XTR on a 2025 RAV4 and answers whether the liftgate opens with a bike on.
- The liftgate: yes, the rack tilts away with the bike loaded, and the liftgate "clears the handlebars and the pedals by several inches."
- Fit across trims: etrailer says the hitch and the T2 Pro XTR fit the same across RAV4 trims, including the Hybrid.
- Measurements: 36.5 inches out from the bumper loaded, 15 inches folded, 21 inches of ground clearance at the end, about 24 inches to lift the bike, and a 52 lb rack.
- What the T2 Pro XTR blocks: the rear camera and license plate, even with the rack folded up.
etrailer fits the Kuat NV 2.0 on a 2-inch hitch on a 2021 RAV4 Prime.
- The liftgate: the Kuat NV 2.0 tilts with the bike on, so you can open the liftgate "if you forgot to throw that cooler in."
- Measurements: about 37 inches out loaded, 14.5 inches folded, and 19.5 inches of ground clearance.
- Rattle: the Kuat NV 2.0 has a built-in knob that stops it rattling in the hitch.
- Fenders: the hook that holds the front wheel sits on the fender if your bike has one.
etrailer puts a Yakima FatCat EVO ski carrier on the factory crossbars of a 2022 RAV4.
- Fit: the FatCat EVO clamps onto Toyota's factory crossbars without tools.
- Height: the FatCat EVO adds about 4.5 inches above the crossbars.
- The liftgate: about two feet from the rear of the carrier to the open liftgate, so longer skis "could potentially make contact."
- The moonroof: the crossbars already cover part of the moonroof.
- Weight: the FatCat EVO is rated for 92.6 lb. The video says crossbars are usually rated higher, but Toyota doesn't publish a crossbar rating, so go by the RAV4's 176.4 lb roof limit.
A RAV4 Prime owner puts a SportRack Crest 2 Locking platform rack from Costco in Toyota's factory hitch.
- The adapter: the Crest 2 has a 1.25-inch bar, and a 2-inch sleeve that came with the Crest 2 fits it into Toyota's 2-inch hitch.
- The liftgate: the Crest 2 only folds down in the middle and doesn't tilt away. So the liftgate opens, but only with the bikes off the rack.
- Why it matters: the Crest 2 is the clearest example of why you'd pick a rack that tilts with the bikes on.
Buddy's take
So ultimately, for me personally, I'd get a 2-inch hitch on any 2019 to 2026 RAV4. Then I'd add a platform rack that tilts down with the bikes on, so the liftgate still opens. The Thule T2 Pro XTR is the easy pick for regular bikes. And for two e-bikes on a gas RAV4 or a RAV4 Hybrid, I'd go with a light rack like the Thule Epos. And I'd add up the rack plus the bikes before you buy.
And I'd keep skis on the roof with a ski carrier, loaded so the ends don't hang past the rear crossbar.
So hopefully this helps you get the bikes, the skis and the dog all on one RAV4.
Have a question about “RAV4 bike and ski racks: which hitch, which rack, and will the liftgate still open?”?
Ask it here. Every question comes to me first. I answer as many as I can, and each answered question goes on this page with my answer so other RAV4 owners can see it too. I don't ask for your email, so check back on this page for the answer.
